Shoe Shopping on a Winter Day
We had the first big snow storm of the winter today. I needed new winter boots and, typically, had put off getting a pair until there were several inches of snow on the ground and there was nothing for it but to freeze my toesies in my rubber rain boots while I schlepped myself off to the store. CommentBooting Ballets for Boudoirs?
It’s a well established fact that I am a big fan of the ballet flat, so when The Moment posited that the boudoir is poised to oust the ballerina as the stylish flat of choice, I was intrigued. Continue Reading
Would You Rather…?
Remember the game we used to play as kids wherein one proffers the two most awful things imaginable – say, eating slugs or kissing the geeky boy next door – with the question “Would you rather…?” Friends had to choose; we would laugh. We were nine.
As I sit here contemplating whether I might splurge on the Proenza Schouler laser cut sandals I’ve been eyeing since Louis teased me with them in January or the Givenchy fisherman wedge which Barneys dangled mercilessly in a recent email, the thought for a slightly different, updated version of the game occurred to me. Along with a new regular feature here at Cloud of Chaos.
Since I, like most women I know, don’t have the budget to shop indiscriminately for every shoe, dress and handbag that catches my eye, nor do I have the ability to hop on an airplane to every beach and urban boutique hotel that calls my name, I will occasionally ask you, my stylish and in-the-know readers, to weigh an opinion between one tempting thing and another. Shoe Lust
A recent arrival at Louis Boston, these puppies from Proenza Schouler’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection are giving me a serious case of shoe lust. Must. Have. Now.

I just got a pedi. I can wear them around the house until the snow melts.
Hello Lover
Remember that scene in Sex and the City when Carrie stops in front of a shop window to admire a pair of frilly fuchsia Christian Louboutin sandals? This was just like that. I was walking by the Hermes store, where they had just put in new window displays, and there they were. These beautiful, fur-trimmed, grey suede shoes. Oh, me likey.

This image (the only one I could find online) simply doesn’t do them justice. When you see them from the front you will understand why this shoe gal’s heart skipped a beat. Perhaps I should go back to take a photo of the window display. Or better yet, I should go in to try them on. And skip paying the rent next month to buy them.
I could use a new lover.

My name is Angela Eloise and I am a freelance writer. That sounds as if I am copping to an addiction. I am. In addition to writing this blog, I also write a column about social media and I am at work on a series of essays that I hope to see in print some day. Cloud of Chaos was born from my desire to dance with the absurdity of life, to create a space where I could write and share all of the gorgeous, fun, snarky deliciousness I find spinning around me every day. What does a spinning cloud of chaos have to do with writing? Everything, as it turns out.
