Rain
It started to rain last night as I lie in bed reading a book, the window open beside me and the slightest bit of a breeze sending a soft flutter through my curtains. (Yes, it’s getting warm enough in Boston to keep the windows open!) This morning, when I got up and looked outside, all of the ugly piles of dirt-covered snow were gone, as if the rain had washed them away overnight. Full Moon, Eclipse and Solstice – Oh, My!
Multiple heavenly events are lining up for a rare display of synchronization tonight as a total Lunar Eclipse coincides with 2010′s Winter Solstice.
Early tomorrow morning (or late tonight if you are on the West Coast) the Full Moon will be darkened by Earth’s shadow as our planet passes between it and the Sun. December 21 is also the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, after which the days will begin to grow longer. Coupled with the Lunar spectacle, it means we’re in for an especially dark eve indeed. The eclipse will begin at 2:41 am EST; NASA recommends 3:17 a.m. EST for the optimal impression. This is the first time an Eclipse has coincided with a Solstice since December 21, 1638, and the next one won’t come around again until 2094. Continue Reading
A Full Moon in Taurus
Today at 12:29 pm EST the Moon is Full in the earthy sign of Taurus. Tonight’s clear November sky will be great for viewing the Moon in all its glory (although technically the Moon won’t be completely Full anymore by then).
Taurus is ruled by Venus, planet of love, art, and beauty, and the energy of Venus’ influence is affecting and informing what we have going on right now. A great day for romantic pursuits or, for those of us in Boston, to make it over to immerse ourselves in the new Art of the Americas wing at the Museum of Fine Arts. Today’s Double Whammy – Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse
At an art opening earlier this week, a bunch of girlfriends and I were all remarking that we haven’t been sleeping. It seemed there must be something happening in the universe that was conspiring to keep us lying awake at night, tossing and turning with our thoughts and dreams. I think I know what that is.
At 7:30 this morning we experienced an especially potent Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse, occurring in the sign of Capricorn.
