Wine to Drink With Celery
Someone in my office building left a WSJ. magazine lying in the hall. This is the Wall Street Journal’s equivalent to the weekend style magazine that we’ve grown to know and love from the New York Times. Never seen it before. Took it to my favorite watering hole for reading material. Hello lover! From front to back, I am enamored of the articles in this magazine. I’m willing to concede that it could be the WSJ. virgin in me talking but I’d almost be willing to spring for the subscription that would bring this magazine to a stoop near me on a regular basis. CommentCuor di Caffe
There is a cult of coffee to which I cannot claim membership. It requires extreme devotion, fanaticism, and a level of gadgetry for which I have neither the budget or room in my tiny kitchen. I do, however, need a good strong cup of coffee in the morning before I can truly consider myself awake. Somewhere along the way I got rid of my ancient Braun coffee maker, so now I rely upon the cafes in my neighborhood for my morning caffeine fix. Continue Reading
It’s the Bees Knees
Quite some time ago now, I was at Barbara Lynch’s Drink with a gin-drinking friend who asked our talented bartender for something light and citrusy. She got a Bees Knees, which is essentially gin, lemon and honey. Given that it is our habit to share cocktails at Drink so that everyone in our group can experience the particular deliciousness of their creations, I took a sip. Never a gin drinker before, from that moment I was converted. According to Retrospective magazine, this is not an uncommon occurrence, given the Bees Knees crowd pleasing mix of sweet and sour, not to mention how smoothy it goes down! Continue Reading
The Princess and the Cake
I’m sorry, but this blew my mind. A writer for The Moment, one of my favorite and most revered blogs (being an offshoot of the New York Times and all) spends several paragraphs waxing eloquent about his ignorance of the Princess Cake. Continue Reading
Get a Whif of This
Are you a chocoholic? When faced with chocolate do you just want to inhale it? Well now you can, literally. Harvard professor David Edwards has created Le Whif, a “fine chocolate and coffee powder encapsulated in a lipstick-shaped inhaler that’s puffed for a new way of ‘eating by breathing’.” Continue Reading
Corvidae
I have a thing for crows. They are the symbol for the Celtic warrior goddess Morrigan and they have particular totemic significance for me. In a complete non sequitur, I also have developed a proclivity for choosing bottles of wine based on the unusual or somehow symbolic nature of the name on the label or its imagery. Which all brings me to a recent procurement trip to my favorite wine shop, BRIX, in the South End. Continue Reading
The Best Dessert in the Universe
Last night I had the good fortune to be dining at Market, the fabulous new restaurant at W Boston. I was entertaining a visiting journalist who was reviewing the restaurant, so in typical review style we ordered a number of different menu items and both nibbled a bit from each. When we had finished “dinner” I encouraged my dining companion to try the passion fruit souffle, which has become something of a signature dessert for them. I had no intention of touching it, but I thought she should at least give it a try. Continue Reading

My name is Angela Eloise and I am a freelance writer. I recently moved to Seattle because I wanted a better home base to support my creative goals. And my shaman told me to. Cloud of Chaos was born from my desire to dance with the absurdity of life, to create a space where I could write and share all of the gorgeous, fun, snarky deliciousness I find spinning around me every day. What does a spinning cloud of chaos have to do with writing? Everything, as it turns out.
