Holiday Windows
So Boston doesn’t have Gumps or Bergdorf to provide magical, crowd-drawing, jaw-dropping holiday displays, but a few shops on Newbury Street have managed to create some snap-worthy window dressing.
This is my favorite for pure cheek. It seems someone at BCBG got so excited about their sale she fell into a box. Or she drank too much egg nog. Continue Reading

CommentI’m Dreaming of an Attic Office
After posting a few days ago about wanting a home office again, I started to think about what my dream office would look like. All of my fantasies involved a tidy little space perched in the eaves of an attic. While I don’t exactly have an attic at the moment, I went in search of a few ideas to post on my inspiration board and to put in my dream jar in hopes that some design/lottery goddess somewhere might be paying attention. My Dream House: Rocking the Washington Coast
From the moment I saw how architect and artist Adam Kalkin created a new home for his family by building a big, galvanized steel shed over a tiny clapboard cottage, with its creative use of space, windows and doorways (he made a house-shaped window at one end to bring light through the existing windows of the cottage) and its inherent commentary on inside vs. outside, I’ve been struck by unusual ways to create dwellings and comfortable living space. (Kalkin’s house was covered in the New York Times magazine in May 2001: How to Hide a House.)
My latest real estate crush? This house on an island off Washington State, featured on T Magazine’s blog: Rock Star. The house was designed by architect Tom Kundig as a weekend getaway for Seattle art patron and philanthropist Merrill Wright. Kundig is known for houses that are both elegantly rugged and eminently livable. Continue Reading

Impressions of a Neighborhood
Lately I’ve been working on a project. After experimenting with the iPhone app Hipstamatic, which I blogged about here, I decided to begin a photographic adventure of chronicling impressions of my neighborhood, Boston’s South End. Continue Reading
How Do You Heart NY?
Last week, JetBlue became the first company authorized to use the “I ♥ NY” logo, designed in 1975 by Milton Glaser, in an ad campaign. The New York Times decided to invite readers to design and submit their own interpretations of this iconic symbol. Coming from all over the world, using images ranging from hot dogs to the Apple logo, there were riffs on everything from food to architecture, commentary on art, and the use of many other recognizable NYC icons.
Mr. Glazer, 81, was flattered. “I have seen my share of variations, and I always find them charming and amusing,” he said. Continue Reading

My name is Angela Eloise and I am a freelance writer. I recently moved to Seattle because I wanted a better home base to support my creative goals. And my shaman told me to. Cloud of Chaos was born from my desire to dance with the absurdity of life, to create a space where I could write and share all of the gorgeous, fun, snarky deliciousness I find spinning around me every day. What does a spinning cloud of chaos have to do with writing? Everything, as it turns out.
