Boots on the Brain
The Charles River has frozen already. Still no snow, but baby it’s cold outside! And everyone has boots on the brain. Today, in her weekly Goop newsletter, Gwyneth gives us her list of faves, as does our own Erin Gates at Elements of Style. Among Gwyneth’s picks, my personal favorite is Opening Ceremony‘s Lara Fur boot. Love! And not as impractical as it looks. I think these need to find their way into my closet.
Erin, god bless her, is tall and thin and has a penchant for over-the-knee boots. Most of these boots are half as high as I am, but if I thought I could pull them off for one second, I like the combination of buckle and peeks of shearling on these Hunter boots.

But right now I’m in shoe lust over the Keds by Loomstate boots at Barneys. Made of canvas with a rubber lug sole and lined with shearling, these are sure to keep your feet warm, and at a mere $110 are really a fashion steal. (Hey, don’t mob Barneys until I get my pair, okay? Thanks.)

My favorite touches? The pocket on the side – perfect for stashing cab fare (or whatever) for easy access. But especially the birds silhouettes at the heel. A clever reference to Hermes, perhaps? I’d like to think that wearing these boots will ensure a safe and easy journey to all who wear them (even if TSA does make you take them off) and keep us from getting lost should we find ourselves in the Underworld. Or the Newark airport – same dif.

My name is Angela Eloise and I am a freelance writer. I recently moved to Seattle because I wanted a better home base to support my creative goals. And my shaman told me to. Cloud of Chaos was born from my desire to dance with the absurdity of life, to create a space where I could write and share all of the gorgeous, fun, snarky deliciousness I find spinning around me every day. What does a spinning cloud of chaos have to do with writing? Everything, as it turns out.
