Cindy Sherman’s Night Out
This photo is brilliant!
And if you can get to New York on Friday for Fashion’s Night Out, you can see it and its five sisters, as well as rub elbows with the fashion elite and enjoy some of the city’s most innovative art, together in one glorious orgy of the visually stimulating.
At Balenciaga, the mutual admiration between Cindy Sherman and Nicolas Ghesquière will play out in both fashion and art. Ghesquière incorporated images and quotations from the artist in his prints for Balenciaga’s fall 2010 collection; back in 2008, Sherman created a series of photographs of herself frantically posing as various fashion hangers-on (characters include “the aging doyenne,” “fashion victim” and “best friends forever”) and dressed entirely in Balenciaga. “The series was inspired by the idea of party photos seen so often in magazines where people, desperate to show off their status and connections, excitedly pose to have their picture taken with larger-than-life-size smiles and personalities,” Sherman says.
Thank you, T Magazine.
I don’t want my picture taken; I’d be happy with a bag.

My name is Angela Eloise and I am a freelance writer. I recently moved to Seattle because I wanted a better home base to support my creative goals. And my shaman told me to. Cloud of Chaos was born from my desire to dance with the absurdity of life, to create a space where I could write and share all of the gorgeous, fun, snarky deliciousness I find spinning around me every day. What does a spinning cloud of chaos have to do with writing? Everything, as it turns out.
